From our Special Correspondent

HONG-KONG, DECEMBER 28. No trams have been running to-day and all depots are closed.

At a meeting attended by about 1,700 of its 2,000 members the Tramway Workers' Union this afternoon pledged full support for the dismissed conduc- tors, and maintenance men not affected by the dismissal order have decided to stage a "go-slow" strike in protest against the company's action. After the meeting the union representatives met and Labour the Commissioner reaffirmed their refusal to submit their claim to arbitration. They said the union was willing to reopen direct negotiations with the company if the dismissal notices were rescinded.
